Breast Cancer Awareness- Room Design

In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I have created a fun and inspiring Living room design. I recently had the privilege of painting with Flora Bowley in Ireland. I have selected a few of her pieces here that can be found on her website at www.braveintuitiveyou.com. Her painting, "Life Story," is shown here as the centerpiece of this vignette. I selected this piece because of the layered approach Flora uses, the vibrant color palette and the metaphors that can be made from the shapes and lines. The white sofa is indicative of the innocence you begin with and the chairs, the darkness that is often embraced by innocence (the white chair frames). The table is both reflective and translucent, which I used to capture the changes in how we both see ourselves in this journey and how other see us. The base of the table had three rings, God, family, self. The lamps are like tall pillars of strength that we surround ourselves with, they bring us light. The pillows on the sofa with the geometric design represent the process in which the battle is fought and how that end of treatment becomes like a target and leads you to this idea of, "the light at the end of the tunnel." The center pillow it a tribute to the life of the survivor. Rising like the phoenix and on a humorous note..... the fan shape reminds me of my little hot flash fan. On each chair is another pillow by Flora Bowley. "Release Become."

Our spaces, like us tell a story. They tell our story.  Our homes and our businesses are an extension of who we are. This is just one example of how a space can tell a story... What's your story?
