Choosing my word for this upcoming year was a little more challenging than I thought it would be. In the past, the word has come to me rather quickly. After much thought, I decided my word for 2020 will be BUILD. Much of the growth I experienced last year allowed me to create a much stronger and healthier foundation for the life I want to live. Since the foundation has been laid, it seems fitting to begin to build. Choosing a word for the year is an excellent way to have the way to look at the year ahead with intention and purpose. It can help you to identify what you need in your life, why you needed, and encourage you to create a plan and vision for how you will get there. Building is something I know how to do when it comes to my job, but I have never applied it to every facet of my life. Perhaps because my foundation was not really strong enough to build upon. Over the next year, there are so many parts to this new chapter in my life, that are ready to be built upon. Of course my business is a given, but also my new life as an empty-nester and as a creative entrepreneur, my relationships and network, and my skills as an artist and designer. Building is exciting because of the chance of starting fresh and new with a blank slate. You build things with intuition, what you already know and have learned, and through research and exploration of unknown variables. In turn you expand your knowledge base and have the opportunity to create something completely authentic. Building is a process that required planning, perseverance, patience, effort, reflection, adaptability, and innovation. I can't think of a better word to begin this new year with!
