![]() Finding the perfect appliances for your Airstream can be overwhelming. There are some many options to choose from. If you are not restoring with the original appliances there are some great options that will fit whatever look you are going for. This week I thought I would share some options I found on my search for appliances. Hopefully it will help you in your search for the perfect pieces for your Airstream. RefrigeratorsBefore you begin your search for any of your Airstream Appliances, you need to decide if you are going to use electric or gas. When it comes to refrigerators, the size will depend on the need and use of the space. Weight may also be something you need to consider, as weight distribution is an important part of the overall design of a road ready Airstream. If it is going to be permanently parked, then weight distribution may be less of an issue. In keeping with the vintage look, there are some really fun options in both small and full size. These are the vintage options I really liked. Some of them also come is several color options. Though these vintage options are really cool, I decided I personally needed a fridge with more storage space. So I started to look into more stainless steel options. They are more pricy, but they offered a more functional solution for me. Here are just a few of my favorites from my search. Cook-tops and OvensIt took me a long time to decide on the right cooking appliances for my Airstream. This is really where the decision of gas or electric came to into play. In the end, I decided to go with electric. My final selections were a convection microwave and a convection burner that could be stored when it is not in use. Before I committed to these selections, I was looking at some of these other combinations. Throughout my search, It really helped me to have a clear understanding of how I planned to use my Airstream, the space considerations, weight, and making the decision to use electric rather than gas. These preferences will really help to narrow down the options. Once you have a couple options, see how they work in the overall design plan. If you are seeking the expertise of an outside source to help you with the build-out, get their input. I always enjoy hearing about what other people have chosen for their spaces and why they chose them. One of the coolest things about being part of the Airstream community is the willingness of its members to share information. It has been invaluable to me as I have embarked on my own renovation.

Meet Lola, My little vintage Airstream! As many of you know, I recently purchased this little gem and plan to give her a new life. I would like to invite you to join me on the journey as I transform her empty shell into a custom luxury space. Lola will eventually be used for many exciting things in the future. She will be my mobile office when I am on the road working ion the east coast, a pop-up retail space at shows and events, and best of all a luxury vacation rental in various locations along the eastern seaboard. Which means that you can not only follow along on this design journey, you too can experience one of our custom designs first hand. Some Fun Facts about Lola:
-She is a 1978 Airstream Argosy. Argosy's are painted Airstreams. This made Lola a fun choice because, yes, I plan to paint her. -She is 28ft long and has big panoramic windows on both the front and the back. Which means that guests can enjoy panoramic views from the sleeping quarters to the main living space. -Eventually everything but her frame, shell, and interior panels will be replaced. -She is going to be equipped to be an off the gird kind of gal The Design: -The plans for her design include, a solar package, composting toilets, smart feature upgrades, SMEG appliances, modern design features, work, sleep, cook, and hangout spaces. As each part of this design plan evolves and the renovation moves along, I will post about the journey and even invite you to participate in design decisions. I will share information on products, features, helpful tips, and all the stories in between. So follow, like, and share! Join the journey and take part in the process! |
